Deep End

Deep End (2025) is a project which has helped me to mend my poor relationship with water. As part of this project I have chosen to learn to swim. This process has made me reflect on the unethical treatment of whales and other cetaceans and the uncanny tension between the ocean and the manufactured pool environment. A large element of this work so far involves performance, pressure and both tangible and intangible ties between the human body and the whale body. The video work follows an imagined journey an orca might take within the confines of an enclosure which poorly mimics a marine environment.
